Ajax are in superb form at home having last lost there late in 2023. Lazio, however, are also in good form, so I am backing the points to be shared here.

Ajax recently won seven straight matches but have now won two of their previous six games. They lost 2-0 at Real Sociedad in the Europa League, Brian Brobbey and Kian Fitz-Jim hitting the woodwork before conceding two goals in the final 25 minutes.

Francesco Farioli’s side returned to the Eredivisie with a 2-1 win at NEC Nijmegen where they were on the end of an 8-21 shot count. They fell behind in the 13th minute with Wout Weghorst scoring twice to turn it around.

The Amsterdam club gave up plenty of chances once again as they drew 2-2 against Utrecht. They had 1-5 shots on target and can have few complaints despite Remko Pasveer’s late own goal.

Ajax are coming off a deserved 2-1 defeat at AZ Alkmaar. They survived two shots against the woodwork before falling 2-0 behind, Mika Godts’ late strike giving them some hope.

Centre-back Gaston Avila is injured alongside right-back Devyne Rensch.

Midfield is depleted with Sivert Mannsverk out with an ankle injury, Benjamin Tahirovic doubtful due to concussion and Davy Klaassen ineligible.

Left-back Owen Wijndal is suspended.

Lazio Form

Lazio recently went on a seven match winning streak which was halted in the Europa League. They drew 0-0 against Ludogorets despite enjoying 20-3 shots.

Marco Baroni’s side failed to take their chances as they returned to Serie A, a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Parma. Valentin Castellanos reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 80th minute but they were unable to make the most of 2.42-1.27 expected goals.

Lazio bounced back in the Coppa Italia, beating Napoli 3-1 thanks to Tijjani Noslin’s hat-trick inside 18 minutes. They met Napoli again in Serie A on Sunday, winning 1-0 in Naples where Noslin came off the bench to assist Gustav Isaksen.
