Real Madrid vs Girona Predictions

Girona have been scoring regularly in the last couple of weeks but lost six of their last seven games. I am backing Real Madrid to win with BTTS in La Liga.

Head to Head

Real Madrid have a 7-3 advantage against Girona with 1 draw in 11 matches.

They last met in December, the game being won by Real Madrid 3-0 in Girona.

Real Madrid Form

Real Madrid looked fantastic in their UEFA Champions League matches against Manchester City (won 3-2 in England, 3-1 at home), but struggled in La Liga, claiming just two points in last three games.

After suffering a shock 1-0 loss at Espanyol in early February, Los Blancos have drawn in the Madrid derby against Atletico 1-1, Kylian Mbappe scoring an equalizer in the second half.

Last weekend’s clash against Osasuna was controversial. Mbappe broke the deadlock 15 minutes in, but Jude Bellingham was sent off just before the break. Osasuna were awarded a penalty in the second half, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side is currently sharing the top of the table with Barcelona, both teams collecting 51 points in 24 matches.

Girona Form

Girona are far from last season’s form and results, entering this match in 11th place in La Liga with 31 points from 24 matches.

Negative run of four consecutive defeats across competitions was ended in the February premiere game at home, beating Las Palmas 2-1 but then lost to Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the follow-up round.

Michel Sanchez’s side failed to recover, suffering another La Liga defeat last weekend, losing 2-1 to Getafe at home. Yangel Herrera scored an equalizer in the 54th minute but was sent off 20 minutes later.

Team News

Los Blancos will be without one of their biggest stars Jude Bellingham who is serving a two-game suspension. Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao are also ruled out with long-term injuries.

As for the visitors, Yangel Herrera is suspended, while Abel Ruiz and Arnaut Danjuma are doubtful.

Verdict

Girona are in terrible form right now but scored in four of their last five contests. I am backing Real Madrid to end their three-game winless run in La Liga but also to concede at least once on Sunday.
