Pirates had won seven straight matches before their shock cup exit last Saturday. They had lifted a domestic cup and had won all three of their Betway Premiership matches.
Their league campaign began with a 2-1 home win over Chippa United and a 3-0 home win vs Polokwane City. A 1-0 win at Richards Bay continued their perfect PSL start.
Two late goals saw a 3-1 MTN8 Cup final win over Stellenbosch thanks to a refereeing howler. On Saturday, they lost 3-2 at home to Magesi in the Carling Knockout having trailed 3-0 at half-time.
Coach Jose Riveiro is without key defender Olisa Ndah for the next three months. Tapelo Xoki is back in training but this match comes too soon for the centre back.
Thalente Mbatha remains an injury doubt. Miguel Timm is also absent in the engine room.
