The rivalry between Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC is just nine years old. Stellies were formed in 2016 but their first season in the top-flight was the 2019-20 campaign.

Amakhosi have regularly signed players from Stellenbosch for big transfer fees, which has built up some tension between the clubs.
