Records

Inter have a slight edge over AC Milan with 20 Serie A (Scudetti) titles compared to 19, but the former have the bragging rights with nine Coppa Italia titles compared to five for Milan.

However, AC Milan have been the most successful Italian team in the Champions League with seven titles compared to three victories in the competition for Inter, although they have won the Europa League three times, and their rivals have drawn a blank.

The longest unbeaten run between the two clubs was achieved by Inter between 1929 and 1937, recording ten wins and three draws.

Ukrainian Andriy Shevchenko holds the record for scoring the most goals in the Derby della Madonnina, with 14 goals when playing for AC Milan.

Milan Derby Icons

Many greats played for Inter Milan, including World Cup winners Lothar Mattahus, Jurgen Klinsmann, and Ronaldo; however, Nerazzurri's greatest icon is Javier Zanetti.

The Argentine played 858 times for Inter from 1995 to 2014 and won more titles as a player than any other for the Italian club, which includes five Scudetti, four Coppa Italia, four Supercoppa Italiana, one UEFA Cup, one Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Upon retirement from the game, Zanetti's number 4 jersey was retired by Inter.

AC Milan had a litany of great footballers playing for Rossoneri, including Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten, and George Weah, to name but a few; however, no other player is synonymous with the club than Paolo Maldini.

The Italian legend clocked up 902 matches for Milan over 25 seasons and won seven Scudetti, one Coppa Italia, five Supercoppa Italiana, five European Cup/UEFA Champions League, five European/UEFA Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups, and one FIFA Club World Cup.

Like Zanetti, Maldini's number 3 jersey was also retired when his career ended.
