Mali vs Zambia Predictions

Mali have been in good form this year and have a chance to secure the first-ever victory over their opponents. Zambia do not have a great record when playing away from home, despite their recent wins in the COSAFA Cup. Mali is predicted to win to nil.

Head to Head

Zambia have beaten Mali once, with two draws in three meetings.

Mali Form

Mali kicked off the Africa Cup of Nations qualifying with an impressive 4-0 home over the Congo and a 3-1 away victory over South Sudan.

The Eagles' subsequent three matches were all friendlies, and they performed below their best, losing 1-0 to Mauritania, drawing 1-1 three days later against the same side and drawing 0-0 against Guinea.

However, they bounced back with two victories in a row in the African Nations Championship qualifying rounds, beating Sierra Leone 2-1 away and 2-0 at home.

Their last five results across all competitions are L, D, D, W, and W, netting five goals and conceding three.

After two losses at home, Mali have reversed that form with three games without a loss, including three clean sheets.

Their last five home results across all competitions are L, L, W, D, and W, scoring six goals and conceding one.

Mali have been on the ascendency, with a good performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, and they just missed out on qualifying for the Qatar World Cup.

They have never defeated Zambia, but this will be their best chance to notch up their first victory against their opponents.

Zambia Form

Zambia performed well at the recent COSAFA Cup, beating Senegal on the way to the final and defeating Namibia 1-0 after extra time to claim their sixth title.

Chipolopolo did not reach the next round of qualifying for the African Nations Championship when they were held 0-0 away to Mozambique and were edged 1-0 at home in the return leg this past July.

Their last five results across all competitions are D, W, W, D, and L, scoring six goals and conceding five.

Before their COSAFA Cup heroics in South Africa, Zambia lost four consecutive away fixtures to Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia, Iraq and the Ivory Coast.

Their last five away results across all competitions are L, W, W, W, and D, registering seven goals and conceding eight.

Zambia would have been disappointed with their result against Mozambique and will look to redeem themselves when they face Mali.

However, they do not travel well, and Mali are a solid team, making their task difficult.
