In the last six matches between these sides stretching back to 2005, Rwanda and Nigeria have one win each and four draws. They met twice in 2024 with Rwanda drawing 0-0 at home but they beat Nigeria 2-1 away.
Rwanda Form
Rwanda are currently second in Group C of the Africa World Cup qualifying. After four games, they have two wins, a draw and a defeat. They are on seven points, one behind Benin but they do have a game in hand.
While their form in the group stage has been good, since the last round of games in June 2024, Rwanda have been quite inconsistent. Of their last six matches, they have won three and lost three.
On the 28th of December 2024, Rwanda beat South Sudan 2-1 in the Africa Nations Cup, a week after losing 3-2 to the same opposition away. Prior to that, Rwanda lost at home to Libya in AFCON qualifying but defeated Nigeria 2-1 away from home.
Rwanda Injuries & Team News
Rwanda have a good blend of talent within their squad. They are in one of their better periods at the moment and should field a strong side for this home game.
Nigeria Form
Nigeria are usually a powerhouse in African football and a regular visitor to the World Cup. However, they have three draws and a defeat in four games thus far and sit fifth on the table.
The Super Eagles are desperate for a win in Rwanda which will put them right back in the hunt for World Cup qualification.
Nigeria won their last match 3-1 at home against Ghana back in December 2024. They drew a week earlier against the same opposition which came after losing 2-1 at home to Rwanda during the AFCON qualifiers.
Nigeria Injuries & Team News
Nigeria have a squad stacked with talent from European leagues. On paper they look very strong, but putting it together on the field has been a problem of late.
Verdict
I am backing this match to end in a 1-1 draw.
