After starting the tournament as favourites, Morocco disappointed at the Africa Cup of Nations finals, winning 3-0 against Tanzania, drawing 1-1 against DR Congo and beating Zambia 1-0 in the group stages before losing 2-0 against South Africa in the round of 16.

Since those results, the Atlas Lions have contested two home friendlies, edging Angola 1-0 and drawing 0-0 against Mauritania.

Morocco have won two of their last five fixtures, including one defeat and two draws. They netted three goals and conceded three.
