Luis de la Fuente’s side played twice in March, 1-0 defeat against Colombia and entertaining 3-3 draw against Brazil. They played ordinary opposition in June and took advantage, thrashing Andorra 5-0 and Northern Ireland 5-1, Mikel Oyarzabal scoring four goals.

La Roja were the only team to win all three group games at Euro 2024 and they did it without conceding as goal. The run started with a 3-0 win against Croatia with Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal scoring in the first half.

Spain dominated Italy, winning 1-0 despite having 9-1 shots on target. The second string players got a run out against Albania, Ferran Torres’ early strike securing a 1-0 victory in Dusseldorf.
