Portugal won their first two group games before losing their final fixture after resting their entire squad. Slovenia on the other hand have looked decent at times, and I fancy them to score.

Portugal won all ten European Championship qualifiers, nine victories coming with clean sheets. The only time they were breached came in a 3-2 victory against Slovakia.

The Selecão played twice in March, a 5-2 win against Sweden and 2-0 defeat in Slovenia. They recently played three friendlies, beating Finland 4-2 followed by a 2-1 defeat to Croatia and comfortable 3-0 victory over Republic of Ireland.

Roberto Martinez’s side left it late to beat Czech Republic in their opening match at Euro 2024, Francisco Conceição coming off the bench to score in added time. They were too good for Turkey, winning 3-0 to take top spot in Group F.

Martinez made eight changes to the starting side against Georgia and it showed, losing 2-0 despite having 72% possession.

Slovenia Form

Slovenia were solid in the Euro 2024 qualifiers, finishing second in Group H, behind Denmark on head to head. They won seven matches with one draw and two defeats.

Matjaz Kek’s side went unbeaten in five friendlies, the highlight coming in a 2-0 victory over

Portugal. They ended with a 2-1 win against Armenia and 1-1 draw against Bulgaria.

Slovenia drew all three group games at Euro 2024, starting with a 1-1 draw against Denmark. Zan Karnicnik opened the scoring against Serbia before they conceded an equaliser deep into added time.

Possession was hard to come by against England, enjoying just 26% of the ball and managing one shot on target in a 0-0 draw.
