Ronald Koeman’s side held France to a 0-0 draw but couldn’t keep a clean sheet against Austria. Gakpo and Memphis Depay equalised in each half, but they fell behind for a third time and couldn’t find a way back in a 3-2 defeat.
Oranje thrashed Romania 3-0 in the Round of 16 where they had 65% possession and 23-5 shots. Gakpo opened the scoring, Donyell Malen replacing Steven Bergwijn at half-time and netting two late goals.
Netherlands trailed Turkey 1-0 at half-time in the quarter-finals. Stefan de Vrij headed home Depay’s cross in the 70th minute, an own goal six minutes later securing a 2-1 victory.

England started Euro 2024 with a 1-0 win against Serbia, Hude Bellingham scoring early in a game of few chances. Harry Kane then opened the scoring in a deserved 1-1 draw against Denmark.
Gareth Southgate’s ended Group C with a 0-0 draw against Slovenia which was enough to take top spot. They had 73% possession and 12-4 shots but couldn’t find the net.
The Three Lions fell behind in the first half in the Round of 16 against Slovakia. It looked like they were going out until Bellingham’s 94th minute equaliser, Kane scoring in extra time to secure a 2-1 victory.
England went all the way against Switzerland in the quarter-finals. Falling behind once again, Bukayo Saka equalised in the 80th minute before they held their nerve to win the penalty shootout.
