Germany vs Denmark Predictions

Denmark have scored just two goals at Euro 2024, reaching the Round of 16 after three draws. Germany should be too good in Dortmund where Kai Havertz is backed to score first.

Stats

  • Germany have scored 8 goals in their last 3 matches.
  • Germany’s Kai Havertz has scored 5 goals in his last 8 matches for club and country.
  • Denmark have scored 2 goals in their last 3 matches.

Head to Head

Germany have a 15-8 advantage against Denmark with 5 draws in 28 matches.

The last three friendlies have all ended in draws.

The last competitive encounter came in the Euro 2012 group stage, Germany winning 2-1 in Lviv where Lars Bender scored a late winner.

Germany Form

Germany played nine friendlies to warm up for Euro 2024, Hansi Flick sacked after three straight defeats and replaced by Julian Nagelsmann.

Nagelsmann got the team back on track, impressing in March when they beat France 2-0 and Netherlands 2-1. The two friendlies in June were not as impressive, a 0-0 draw against Ukraine followed by a 2-1 win against Greece.

Die Mannschaft started Euro 2024 by thumping Scotland 5-1 in Munich. Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala scored early goals before the Scots were reduced to 10 men, Kai Havertz, Niclas Füllkrug and Emre Can getting on the score sheet.

Germany were too good for Hungary, winning 2-0 with Musiala and Ilkay Gündogan on target. They fell behind against Switzerland and looked set for second spot in Group A, Füllkrug coming off the bench to score in added time to secure a 1-1 draw and top spot.

Midfielder Toni Kroos came out of retirement in March. Thomas Müller has scored 45 goals in 130 internationals but is mainly used as a bench option at this stage of his career.

Niclas Füllkrug has scored 13 goals in 19 internationals.

Nagelsmann has some issues in central defence with Jonathan Tah suspended and Antonio Rüdiger doubtful. Nico Schlotterbeck is set to start, Waldemar Anton the other option if Rüdiger can’t recover.

Denmark Form

Denmark won seven of their ten European Championship qualifiers to finish top of Group H.

The Red and Whites tested themselves in June, starting with a 2-1 win against Sweden thanks to Christian Eriksen’s late goal. They beat Norway 3-1 in Brondby, Yussuf Poulsen coming off the bench to score late on.

Kasper Hjulmand’s side have drawn all three matches at Euro 2024, qualifying second in Group C on disciplinary points. Eriksen opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw against Slovenia followed by a 1-1 draw against England, Morten Hjulmand equalising in the first half.

Denmark had 53% possession and 10-5 shots in a 0-0 draw against Serbia, enough to reach the Round of 16.
