Manchester United vs Ipswich Predictions

Manchester United are not in good form, struggling for results both home and away. Ipswich could potentially challenge them, so a double chance on the visitors is my best bet.

  • Man United lost 5 of their last 6 home matches (Premier League)
  • Man United failed to win 8 of their last 12 home matches (Premier League)
  • Man United have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 5 home matches
  • Ipswich are unbeaten in 6 of their last 11 away matches (Premier League)
  • Ipswich have seen BTTS in 8 of their last 10 away matches (Premier League)

Head to Head

Man United and Ipswich have met on just six occasions this century. The Red Devils won four of those fixtures, while Ipswich claimed two draws, including a 1-1 share of the spoils earlier this season.

Manchester United Form

Man United return to Old Trafford after remarkably salvaging a point at Everton on Saturday. Outplayed for much of the 90 minutes, late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte rescued a 2-2 draw for Ruben Amorim's side.

A dismal run of form at Old Trafford has seen United lose four of their last five Premier League games. The rotten Red Devils failed to win eight of their 12 previous PL matches on home soil.

Set for their worst-ever Premier League finish, United sit 15th in the division, 34 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Manchester United Team News

Head coach Amorim remains unable to call on several first-team players this week. Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw and Toby Collyer will not feature, while Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez will miss the remainder of the season.

Alejandro Garnacho could earn a recall to the first XI after a substitute appearance at Everton.

Ipswich Form

Ipswich come into Wednesday's fixture now five points short of safety after a frustrating 4-1 home reversal against Tottenham last weekend. While competitive for much of the 90 minutes, the Tractor Boys fell to their fourth successive home defeat.

Kieran McKenna's side have been somewhat tougher to beat in away fixtures. Ipswich avoided defeat in four of their last seven road games, including a 2-1 win at Tottenham and hard-fought draws at Fulham (2-2) and Aston Villa (1-1).

Still placed inside the relegation zone, McKenna's men find themselves five points short of safety with only 12 games still to play.

Ipswich Team News

Head coach McKenna could be forced into a couple of changes to his selection on Wednesday. Kalvin Phillips and Jens Cajuste were forced off against Tottenham and are expected to miss out this week.

Wes Burns is a long-term absentee and will not feature again this season.

Verdict

Ipswich could pull off a shock result at big odds in a likely entertaining dust-up at Old Trafford.

I'm backing BTTS, and I also fancy the visitors to avoid defeat on Wednesday.
