Head to Head
Wolves have won 67 of their 139 games against Burnley. There have been 31 draws and 41 Burnley wins.
Wolves Form
Wolves enter the EFL Cup second round and are unbeaten in seven of their last eight in the competition. Wanderers won four matches in a row in this spell, conceding just one goal.
The Midlands side have struggled early in the season against some tough Premier League opponents. Wolves lost 2-0 at Arsenal on the opening day before a 6-2 home defeat to Chelsea.
Gary O’Neil’s outfit had plenty of chances with 2.42 XG and 12 shots. Matheus Cunha and Jørgen Strand Larsen were on target but Wolves couldn’t present Chelsea’s late goal glut.
Wolves Injuries
Forward pair Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic are unavailable due to injury.
Burnley Form
Burnley started the 2024/25 Championship season in strong form under new manager Scott Parker. The Clarets thrashed Luton (4-1) and Cardiff (5-0) in their opening two fixtures.
A 1-0 defeat at Sunderland followed after Parker made four changes due to injury issues. The Lancashire outfit struggled with just 4-14 shots and conceded the winner after 26 minutes.
Burnley Injuries
Midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Mike Tresor and forward Nathan Redmond are ruled out
Defenders Ameen Al Dakhil, Hannes Delcroix, Hjalmar Ekdal and Jordan Beyer are also out.
Verdict
Wolves have shown glimpses of quality this season and the Midlands side can bring things together against Burnley. The Clarets lack depth, have several key players out and the hosts can capitalise in the EFL Cup.
