Arsenal Form
Arsenal reached the EFL Cup quarter-finals after thumping Bolton 5-1 and Preston 3-0 in the earlier rounds.
The Gunners are in strong recent form and undefeated in eight, with five wins. Arsenal were on a three-match home winning run, beating Nottingham Forest 3-0, Man United 2-0 and Monaco 3-0.
The North Londoners were then held to a goalless Premier League draw against Everton on Saturday. Mikel Arteta’s side had 13-2 shots, 1.31 XG but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
Arsenal Injuries & News
Defensive trio Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are injured and won’t feature.
17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri has scored three of Arsenal’s eight EFL Cup goals and is likely to start.
Crystal Palace Form
Crystal Palace won their three previous EFL Cup games this season to reach the final eight. They beat Norwich 4-0 at home and sealed 2-1 away wins over QPR and Aston Villa.
The Eagles have won just two of their seven games since beating Villa away in the cup. Palace were winless in four and conceded seven before defeating Ipswich 1-0 away and drawing 2-2 with Man City.
Oliver Glasner’s side beat Brighton 3-1 away on Sunday for their second league away win this season. Trevoh Chalobah and Ismaila Sarr put Palace 2-0 up after 32 minutes and Sarr added a late second to secure the points.
Crystal Palace Injuries & News
Wing-back Daniel Munoz is suspended after receiving his fifth booking of the season at Brighton.
Forward Matheus Franca is ruled out until the new year with a groin injury.
Verdict
Arsenal can utilise their home strength to defeat Palace. The Gunners and the Eagles often get amongst the goals and a high-scoring home victory is expected.
