Zambia vs Lesotho Predictions

Zambia have had a decent start to their Africa Cup of Nations campaign and have a chance to move to the top of their group with a victory, whilst Lesotho are without a win and will be desperate for the points. Zambia is predicted to win to nil.

Head to Head

Zambia hold the edge with two victories to one over Lesotho, with one draw in four meetings across all competitions.

Zambia Form

Zambia are second in Group H on three points after losing their opening match 3-1 away to the Ivory Coast in June last year but bounced back with a 2-1 home win over the Comores a few days later.

Their last five results across all competitions are D, W, W, L, and L, scoring eight goals and conceding five.

Chipolopolo have scored in nine of their last ten internationals, which includes four wins, five losses and one draw.

Zambia have lost two friendlies against Mali and Israel since their COSAFA Cup triumph in July last year, but they have the home-ground advantage and find the back of the net often.

Zambia Team News & Injuries

Patson Daka and Kings Kangwa have scored one goal each in the AFCON qualifiers.

Coach Avram Grant named a 27-man squad to face Lesotho.

Goalkeepers: Allan Chibwe, Lawrence Mulenga, Toaster Nsabata
Defenders: Benedict Chepeshi, Dominic Chanda, Teddy Kumalo, Aaron Katebe, Rodrick Kabwe, Frankie Chisenga Musonda, Tandi Mwape, Aime Mabika
Midfielders: Kelvin Kapumbu, Kelvin Kampamba, Patson Kwataime, Emmanuel Banda, Kings Kangwa, Lubambo Musonda, Benson Sakala, Clatous Chota Chama, Rally Bwalya
Forwards: Joseph Phiri, Lazarus Kambole, Lameck Banda, Fashion Sakala Jnr, Patson Daka, Kennedy Musonda, Edward Chilufya

Lesotho Form

Lesotho are bottom of Group H with one point after losing their opening match 2-0 away to Comoros in Moroni in June last year, but they did a great job when holding Ivory Coast to a 0-0 draw at Dobsonville Stadium in their second match a week later.

Their last five results across all competitions are D, W, W, L, and D, scoring five goals and conceding five.

Likuena have not scored in six of their last ten internationals, which includes three wins, four losses, and three draws.

Lesotho did not make it out of the COSAFA Group stages, and their lack of goals does not help their cause to claim all the points on offer when they take on Zambia. Can they be more clinical up front?

Verdict

Zambia won the COSAFA Cup last year and are scoring regularly, giving them the edge to come out on top with a win-to-nil result against Lesotho and a 2-0 score.
