Sudan produced a poor first-half performance against Niger, going into the break 3-0 down, and conceded a fourth goal early in the second half.

The Falcons of Jediane had 45% possession and seven shots in the match, with one attempt on target.

Before that loss, Sudan drew 0-0, won 2-0 against Ghana in back-to-back AFCON qualifiers, and defeated Tanzania 6-5 on penalties in the first round of the African Nations Championship after the score ended 1-1 over two legs.
