South Africa vs South Sudan Predictions

Bafana Bafana have qualified for the AFCON and will rotate their XI. South Sudan are poor travellers and are tipped to lose in Cape Town without scoring a goal.

Head to Head

These nations have met on one previous occasion.

South Africa beat South Sudan 3-2 away in September.

South Africa Form

Bafana Bafana have reached the next AFCON. With six points from four matches, they can no longer be caught by the third-placed team.

Qualifying began with a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a 2-2 home draw vs Uganda. Another 95th minute goal sealed a 3-2 win at South Sudan.

After smashing Congo 5-0 at home, they had a tougher time in the away leg. A 1-1 draw was a steady result in the end.

South Africa Injuries & Team News

Coach Hugo Broos could rotate his XI with qualification secured. Several players from Mamelodi Sundowns could be rested.

Siyabonga Ngezana and Nyiko Mobbie may get starts in defence. Thapelo Morena and Patrick Maswanganyi scored off the bench in Uganda and should be handed starting berths.

Goalkeepers: Ronwen Williams, Sage Stephens, Sipho Chaine
Defenders: Khuliso Mudau, Nyiko Mobbie, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Siyabonga Ngezana, Mothobi Mvala, Rushwin Dortley, Aubrey Modiba, Fawaaz Basadien
Midfielders: Thapelo Morena, Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Patrick Maswanganyi, Luke Le Roux, Devin Titus
Forwards: Oswin Appollis, Iqraam Rayners, Elias Mokwana, Evidence Makgopa, Relebohile Mofokeng

South Sudan Form

South Sudan lost their first four AFCON qualifiers. They won their fifth match but it’s too little, too late.

A 1-0 loss in Congo was followed by a 95th minute goal conceded to lose 3-2 versus South Africa. Home and away defeats to Uganda proved a fatal blow as they beaten 1-0 away and 2-1 at home.

On Thursday, they twice came from behind to beat ten-man Congo 3-2 at home.

South Sudan Injuries & Team News

Coach Nicolas Dupois is set to play his best XI. Tito Okello will lead the line here.

Peter Chol will play in midfield and is a key man. Forward Ebon Malish scored a brace against Congo last time out.

Goalkeepers: Juma Genaro, Anyama Joseph, Godwill Yugusuk
Defenders: Peter Maker, Rashid Toha, Wani Ivan Adebo, Loki Emmanuel, Atendele Geriga, Samuel Taban
Midfielders: Peter Chol, Jackson Morgan, Joseph Malish, Joseph Dhata, Gaddafi Wahab, Charles Ouma
Forwards: Tito Okello, Valentino Yuel, Machop Chol, Paul America, Lazarus Peter Laku, Ebon Malish
