South Africa vs Namibia Preview
South Africa are favourites despite losing their last game, but Namibia will be on a high after their upset against Tunisia. Neither side is very prolific in front of goal so I’m backing the match to see under 1.5 goals.

- South Africa have seen under 1.5 goals in 6 of their last 9 matches.
- South Africa have won 7 of their last 13 matches against Namibia.
- Namibia have failed to score in 4 of their last 6 matches.
Head to Head
In their 13 previous meetings, South Africa have won seven, Namibia two along with four draws.
South Africa Form
South Africa’s form coming into AFCON had been reasonably good, but their lack of goals was a major concern.
It showed again in their opening game as they went toe-to-toe with Mali. There was enough threat for Bafana Bafana to score as well as a missed penalty.
In a rather cagey affair, Mali eventually broke the deadlock in the 60th minute and doubled their lead six minutes later to win 2-0.
South Africa Injuries & Team News
This is a must-win for South Africa to give themselves a chance at qualifying from the group. Three points here puts them right in the mix, but I do expect Hugo Broos to make a few changes.
Namibia Form
Namibia are among the minnows of African football but they have steadily improved in the last couple of years. They managed a draw in a warmup fixture against Ghana, but like their opponents in this game, struggle to score goals.
Coming into the tournament, Namibia had only scored two goals in their last five games, both against Sao Tome and Principe. However, the Southern African side produced the shock of the tournament to date in their opener, beating Tunisia 1-0.
Namibia did not just sit back and wait for things to happen. While they only had 38% possession, they enjoyed more shots at goal and on target than their more illustrious opponents.
In the 88th minute, Deon Kavendji sent Namibia fans into delirium with the winner.
Namibia Injuries & Team News
Namibia are likely to stick with the same side unless injuries occur.
Verdict
I am backing this game to see under 1.5 goals with South Africa to win 1-0.
