Nigeria vs Libya Predictions

The visitors are ranked 121st in the FIFA rankings. They face a Nigerian side stacked with firepower. I’m backing a big home win with Victor Boniface on target.

Head to Head

Nigeria hold a 4-0 advantage over Libya across four previous clashes.

When the sides last met, Nigeria won 3-2 in a match played in Libya.

Nigeria Form

The Super Eagles finished as runners-up in the AFCON earlier this year. They were beaten 2-1 by Ivory Coast in the final.

In June’s World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria drew 1-1 at home vs South Africa before a shock 2-1 away loss to Benin. They beat the same opponents 3-0 in September in an AFCON qualifier.

Their last match saw a frustrating 0-0 draw in Rwanda.

Nigeria Injuries & Team News

Victor Osimhen misses out on this match due to injury. Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface is battling recalled Taiwo Awoniyi to lead the line.

Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah is also out due to injury. Chelsea’s Tosin Adarabioyo was rumoured to be a new call-up but that has not materialised.

Libya Form

Libya failed to qualify for the AFCON earlier this year after losing four of their six qualifiers.

In June this year, they beat Mauritius 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier to make it 11 matches unbeaten. A 1-0 loss followed away to Cabo Verde in another World Cup qualification match.

In September, their AFCON qualifying group began with a 1-1 home draw vs Rwanda. A 2-1 defeat away at Benin came next having led 1-0.

Libya Injuries & Team News

Besiktas midfielder Al-Musrati withdrew from the squad in September for off-field reasons. He is not available for this match either.

The Mediterranean Knights have called up 18-year-old Barcelona youth team striker Ahmed Elmsmari for the first time.
