Head to Head

Mauritania have the advantage with three victories to one against Botswana in four Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

Mauritania Form

Mauritania lost 2-0 against Mali and drew 0-0 against Morocco in two international friendlies in March this year.

Results did not go Mauritanias' way in their two home World Cup qualifiers in June, losing 2-0 against Sudan and 1-0 against Senegal.

The Lions of Chinguetti have lost four of their last five matches, including one draw.  They scored no goals and conceded six.

Mourabitounes have won two of their last five home games, including three losses. They scored three goals and let in seven at the back.

Mauritania have been out of form lately, although they do play better on their home soil; however, they lack firepower upfront and must find a way to be more clinical in their AFCON qualifier against Botswana.

Botswana Form

In March, Botswana recorded back-to-back goalless draws against Rwanda and Burundi in two international friendlies away from home.

The Zebras lost 1-0 against Uganda but bounced back with a 3-1 win over Somalia in two World Cup qualifying matches away from home in June.

Botswana came up short in a friendly against Libya in August, losing 1-0.

The Zebras have secured one victory in their last five fixtures, including two draws and two losses. They scored three goals and let in three at the back.

Botswana have a tricky test to overcome when they travel to play Mauritania away from home as they have been misfiring up front lately, although they are not conceding many goals.
