Ghana vs Niger Predictions

Ghana are struggling as a nation and are missing key players like Semenyo and Williams. Niger could make life difficult for them and take a draw in Accra.

  • Ghana have drawn 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • Ghana have seen BTTS Yes in 9 of their last 12 matches.
  • Niger are winless in 8 away AFCON Qualifiers.

Head to Head

These sides sit at 1-1 across three previous clashes with one draw.

They met in AFON qualifying in September as they played out a 1-1 draw.

Ghana Form

The Black Stars have only won three times in the last 17 matches. They have failed to qualify for the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.

A poor 1-0 loss at home to Angola was followed by two draws. They hit rock bottom by losing 2-0 away to Sudan.

On Friday, they could only draw 1-1 away in Angola to confirm their failed attempt at qualification.

Ghana Injuries & Team News

Coach Otto Addo has an understrength squad for this match. Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo and striker Inaki Williams has pulled out for these fixtures.

Right back Tariq Lamptey will play no part.

Goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Jojo Wollacott, Fredrick Asare
Defenders: Alexander Djiku, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, Mohammed Salisu, Baba Rahman, Jerome Opoku, Ebenezer Annan, Abdul Mumin, Razak Simpson
Midfielders: Mohammed Kudus, Salis Abdul Samed, Edmund Addo, Ernest Nuamah, Elisha Owusu, Abu Francis, Ibrahim Sulemana
Forwards: Jordan Ayew, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Osman Bukari, Ibrahim Osman, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Abdul Fattawu

Niger Form

After a run of two wins in 13 matches, Niger now have two wins in the last six fixtures. A win here is only enough if Sudan loses at home to Angola.

A 3-0 win over Congo in World Cup qualifying was followed by a 1-0 loss away to Sudan in AFCON qualifying. A 1-1 home draw versus Ghana preceded consecutive defeats.

They lost 2-0 away to Angola and 1-0 at home to the same opponents. On Thursday, they smashed Sudan 4-0 after four strikes in the first 51 minutes.

Niger Injuries & Team News

Centre forward Daniel Sosah is the key man. He scored a brace in the last match and will lead the line.

Moroccan coach Ezzaiki Badou could name an unchanged XI.

Verdict

I see both teams scoring and the match ending in a draw.
