It is a tough one to call considering all the players missing from both sides. Form tells us Racing should be comfortable, but games between these two are seldom comfortable. I am backing Montpellier to get inside 10 points and perhaps cause an upset.

Racing 92 return to Top 14 action this weekend with the Six Nations on a week break. They are fourth on the table after 14 matches with eight wins and six defeats. Only one point separates the top four sides, so it is an opportunity to make a big jump up the table.

The French club have lost their last two matches in the Top 14, going down 27-20 at home to Toulouse before losing 26-5 at Perpignan. The latter result was unfortunate with Racing missing so many players to the Six Nations squads.

Prior to those two defeats, Racing beat Cardiff at home in the Champions Cup, but lost to Bath the week before in the same competition.

Racing are without a number of key players who are with the French national side for the Six Nations. However, it is the same for all clubs so the hosts will have to deal with it and put out a competitive side.

Montpellier Form

Montpellier face the real danger of relegation this season, just a couple of years after winning the title. They have just four wins from 14 games and are bottom of the pile.

Recent form has however been decent for the former champions, winning four of their last seven games in all competitions. They lost their last match 18-10 at La Rochelle but beat Paul 22-17 at home the week before.

In the Challenge Cup, Montpellier beat the Lions 13-3 in mid-January but lost thereafter at Benetton.

Like their opponents, Montpellier have players on international duty. They will see this as an opportunity to sink one of the big boys considering that they are missing far more than the visitors.

This is usually a very tight contest and with so many players absent, it should be once again. I'm backing Montpellier's form to keep improving with a loss within the 10-point handicap or a win.
