Perpignan vs Vannes Preview

Perpignan have not made a good start to the season, already suffering defeat on five occasions. However, the hosts do have a very strong record against Vannes, something I expect to continue on Saturday in the Top 14.

  • Perpignan have won 3 of their last 5 fixtures.
  • Perpignan have won 4 of their last 5 home games.
  • Perpignan have defeated Vannes 6 successive times.
  • Vannes have lost all their away matches this season.

Head to Head

In seven previous encounters, Vannes have managed just one win while Perpignan have secured six victories.

Perpignan Form

Perpignan succumbed to a 30-23 loss against Racing 92 away from home last weekend.

Perpignan were trailing Racing 24-6 in the 25th minute of the match before scoring a converted try two minutes before the break.

Perpignan scored a converted try and two penalties after 78 minutes of play to trail 27-23 before Racing 92 slotted over a penalty on the stroke of full-time.

Perpignan lost their opening home match of the season 26-7 against Montpellier before reeling off three victories on the trot at their stadium, beating Clermont 33-3, Pau 11-10, and Lyon 29-26.

Perpignan are 13th in the Top 14 standings with 14 points from eight games.

Perpignan have recorded three victories in a row at home this campaign and have beaten Vannes six consecutive times, giving them the advantage to register another win in front of their fans.

Antione Aucagne kicked over three penalties against Stade Francais.

Giorgi Beria slotted over a drop goal, whilst Tommaso Allan added two conversions.

Victor Montgaillard and Jean Barraque dotted own for a try each last weekend.

Vannes Form

Vannes ended their run of defeats in the Top 14 with a 34-28 victory over Castres at home last weekend.

Vannes added two penalties and a converted try in the second half to pocket the points.

Vannes have played four away fixtures this campaign with no result, losing 34-31 against Stade Francais, 54-19 against Toulon, 26-24 against Montpellier, and 55-33 against Clermont.

Vannes are bottom of the Top 14 table with 11 points from eight matches.

Vannes must improve their away form as they have yet to register a win on their travels this season and are on a losing streak against Perpignan.
