Moana Form

Moana have lost their opening two fixtures of the 2024 Super Rugby season but have shown plenty of promise in both games.

In round one, Moana went down 45-44 to the Western Force in an exciting and tense match. The Force had to go 26 phases with the clock in the red before scoring the winning try.

Moana again shipped plenty of points in round two at the Reds, losing 56-36. While the 20-point defeat will hurt Moana, they are also scoring loads of points themselves.

Moana Injuries & Team News

Moana are likely to rotate as they attempt to keep players fresh for later rounds. However, this is a game they would have targeted for the win.

Highlanders Form

The Highlanders began the 2025 Super Rugby season with a narrow 37-36 defeat to the Waratahs in Sydney. Despite the loss, the Dunedin-based side picked up two losing bonus points.

Last week, the Highlanders, caused a shock, beating the defending champions, Blues, 29-21 at home. It was a well-deserved win for the Otago side as well as they dominated key aspects of the match.

Highlanders Injuries & Team News

Highlanders have made three changes to the side that beat the Blues last weekend. Daniel Leinert-Brown will miss three weeks of action due to his red card last week. Hugh Renton misses the game due to a slight niggle, Nikora Broughton comes in for the co-captain.

Verdict

Highlanders are backed to cover the -8.5-handicap considering how many points Moana has shipped in the first two rounds.
