Blues vs Hurricanes Predictions

This is a tricky game between the two sides that dominated in 2024 but are both struggling in 2025. The Blues have only managed one win in six but that one win did come against the Hurricanes in Wellington. My best bet is for the Blues to cover the 4.5 handicap.

Head to Head

Blues have won four of their last five games against the Hurricanes, including earlier this season in Wellington.

Blues Form

The Blues may be the defending champions, but their season is fast turning into a disaster. They are 10th on the table with just one win in six games.

In their opening two games, the Blues lost to the Chiefs and Highlanders before overcoming the Hurricanes 33-29 away from home. That was followed by a 21-20 loss at home to the Brumbies.

The Blues lost their following game against the Chiefs 32-31 before being well beaten 42-19 at home by the Crusaders a fortnight ago.

Hurricanes Form

The Hurricanes have made a better start than the Blues but have hardly shot the lights out. They have won three and lost three of their six games to date.

The Canes lost in round one before bouncing back to beat Fijian Drua a week later by four points. They then lost by the same margin at home to the Blues and then went down 40-31 to Moana.

The Hurricanes hit back though, beating the Highlanders 20-18 in Dunedin before seeing off the Waratahs 57-12 at home last weekend.
