France have an incredibly strong squad of players. There isn’t a question about if they will beat Italy, it is simply bow how many. My best bet is for France to cover the -35 handicap.

France have won their last 11 matches against Italy. Last time they met was in the 2021 Six Nations where France won 50-10 in Rome.

France Form

France are the bookmakers favourite to win the 2022 Six Nations. They were unfortunate to not win it in 2020 and 2021, but will look to show their class this time around.

Last season the French won three of their five Six Nations matches. When the Southern Hemisphere came touring in November, France were back to their best.

A 29-20 win over Argentina was followed by a 41-15 victory against Georgia at home. The hosts did field a second string outfit for that match.

In the final game of the November tours France battered the mighty All Blacks in Paris to win 40-25. It was seriously impressive performance and one that will give them much confidence going into 2022.

Fabian Galthie has options aplenty from which to pick. Thus far there have been no reported injuries to key players with Antoine Dupont set to start after a COVID scare.

Italy Form

Italy were once again dismal in the Six Nations last year, losing all of their matches with relative ease. In fact, Italy have not won a Six Nations match since 2015.

It is hard to see the Italians getting anywhere near a victory in 2022 either. Rugby has stagnated in the country and they now have quite a young squad as they look to rebuild.

Italy did manage one victory in the November 2021 internationals but that came against a tier two nation, Uruguay. Prior to that the Italians lost 47-9 to New Zealand and 37-16 to Argentina.
