Head to Head
Historically England have had the better of Scotland, but times have changed recently. The Scots have won their last four games against England and six of their last eight, suffering just one defeat and a draw.
England Form
England are still in the running for the Six Nations title this season, however, this is a must-win game. They will need Ireland to slip up somewhere along the lines as well, btu that is a concern for another day.
The English were very good in the first half against Ireland in round one. In the second 40, Ireland dominated and England tired and managed to scrape a 27-22 win.
England, however, bounced back in round two, defeating France 26-25 in a rather spectacular finish at Twickenham. England have not won many close games over the last 18 months, so that win will be a huge chip of their shoulder.
England Injuries & Team News
England have made just one change to their side. Fin Smith retains the 10 jersey with Marcus Smith starting at 15.
Scotland Form
Scotland have been putting in decent challenges in the Six Nations for the last few years, but they just can’t find the consistency against the top sides.
After two rounds, Scotland have played two home games, beating Italy 31-19 in round one but in round two they came up short against Ireland 32-18.
It was a poor performance from the Scots in front of their home fans. They never quite felt at the races and Ireland were just too good.
Scotland Injuries & Team News
Darcy Graham and Finn Russell both departed the field through injury against Ireland. A decision on their fitness will be made closer to kick off, but without either of them, Scotland are a lot weaker.
Verdict
This should be a very tight contest at Twickenham. Recent history favours Scotland but England are playing some good rugby at the moment. I am backing the visitors on the +6.5 handicap with a possible win for Scotland.
