Wales vs Australia Preview
This is a very even contest with the bookies setting the handicap at just a single point. The last four matches between Wales and Australia have all seen the winner victorious by five or less points.

I am backing the Aussie desperation to come out on top as they simply must win this game.
- Wales have won 3 of their last 4 matches against Australia.
- Wales have won their last 3 matches.
- Australia have lost 6 of their last 7 matches.
- There has not been more than 5 points between these sides in their last 4 matches.
Head to Head
Wales have won three of their last four matches against the Wallabies, but it was the Aussies who won in their last match. In November 2022, Wales built up a commanding lead, but Australia fought back in the final quarter to win the match 39-35 at the Principality Stadium.
Wales Form
After a few struggles over the last couple of years, Wales came into this World Cup under some pressure. There was a lot of talk that they may not make it out of the group, but Warren Gatland’s side has proven them wrong to date.
It has not been plain sailing though. In their opener, Wales only just snuck past Fiji 32-26, and were quite fortunate not to lose that game. They backed it up last week with a 28-8 win over Portugal, securing a bonus point despite a pretty average performance.
This is the big weekend as Wales can effectively put Australia out of the World Cup. However, the Aussies will be well up for this after their disappointment last weekend.
Wales Injuries & Team News
Warren Gatland has made a number of changes from last week's side as he returns to full strength.
Australia Form
Things have not gone according to plan for Eddie Jones since taking over as head coach earlier this year. He has lost six of his seven matches in charge.
Jones has faced plenty of criticism of his selections over the last week and he will need to turn it around drastically on Sunday. Australia lost their first five games this year before defeating Georgia in their World Cup opener.
That proved to be a false dawn as Fiji overturned Australia 22-15 last weekend. It was also not a flamboyant Fiji that beat the Wallabies, it was a dominant, calculated display from the islanders.
Australia Injuries & Team News
Ben Donaldson has gotten the nod at flyhalf as he moves there from fullback.
Verdict
I am backing Australia to win and blow Pool C wide open.
