2023 Rugby World Cup Road to the Final
South Africa are fourth favourites to win the Rugby World Cup in France with bet.co.za pricing them at 5.50. France, New Zealand and Ireland are all ahead of the defending champions.
The road to the final is littered with obstacles for South Africa. On current form and world ranking, the entire World Cup draw is very lopsided with New Zealand, France, South Africa, Ireland, and Scotland all in Pool A and B.
Firstly, the Springboks must finish in the top two in Pool B to qualify for the quarter-final. That is tough with both Ireland and Scotland in Pool B, and let’s not forget how capable Tonga are as well.
Should South Africa indeed make it through their opponent in the last eight (barring a miracle) will be either France or New Zealand. That is a World Cup draw not many will envy.
Once the Springboks get through that, if they do, the semi-final will be tough regardless of who they face. They will have certainly played much tougher games than their opponents, so fitness will count at this point.
South Africa Rugby World Cup Odds
South Africa may not really fancy the draw they’ve been handed, but they do enjoy being underdogs. As world champions they can’t quite fly under the radar, but most people are focused on France, Ireland and New Zealand.
This will motivate the Springboks as that is when they perform at their best…as underdogs. Bet.co.za will pay 5.50 for the Boks to claim the title which offers some decent value.
To merely reach the final South Africa are valued at 2.62 while topping Pool B is paying 2.25 with betway.
