Rugby World Cup Record

Australia and Scotland have met on two occasions at the Rugby World Cup, with both meetings happening at the quarter-final stage, Australia winning both matches en route to the final in both years. Australia lost in both finals, first to England and then to New Zealand.

Their first meeting at the World Cup took place in the 2003 quarter-final where Australia won comfortably by 33-16 at Lang Park in Brisbane. Australia scored three tries to one, with Scotland’s try a consolation effort in the final minute of play.

Their only other meeting was in the 2015 quarter-final, which Australia won 35-34 after a thrilling clash, thanks to a last-minute penalty from Bernard Foley. Australia scored five tries to three in one of the best matches of that year's World Cup.
