England vs Japan Predictions
England will be confident of ending their five-match losing streak at home this weekend, the question is by how much they will win. Despite the losses, England have been playing fairly well and should at least be able to put 40+ points on the board.

I am backing England to cover the -35.5 handicap against the Brave Blossoms.
- England have won their last 8 matches against Japan.
- England have lost their last 5 matches.
- Japan have lost 3 of their last 5 matches.
- Japan have conceding 50+ points in their last 2 matches against tier 1 sides.
Head to Head
England have won all eight previous games against Japan. Earlier this year England won 52-17 against Japan.
England Form
England are in a strange place at the moment with five defeats in a row. In fact, their last win came in June this year when they beat Japan 52-17.
While five defeats in a row sounds poor, all those games have been decided by very fine margins. England lost twice in New Zealand by one and seven points before going down by two points to the All Blacks again at the start of November.
That was followed by a 42-37 loss at home to Australia, another game England should have won like the week before against New Zealand. Last week, against the world champion Springboks, England dominated large parts of the fixture but came unstuck in the final 20 minutes, losing 29-20.
England Injuries & Team News
Steve Borthwick is likely to ring the changes for this game as England seek to put an end to their losing streak.
Japan Form
Japan rugby, while vastly improve, has dropped off significantly over the last few years. They are no longer threatening, let alone beating the top sides.
The Brave Blossoms reach the final of the Pacific Nations Cup earlier this year, beating Samoa and USA on their way, but lost 41-17 to Fiji in the final.
In late October, Japan lost 64-19 at home to a weakened All Blacks side before France thrashed them 52-12 a fortnight ago. Last week, Japan put an end to that losing run, defeating Uruguay 36-20.
Japan Injuries & Team News
Japan’s confidence is not high at the moment, so I do expect some more changes as they try to find their way back to the form of 2019.
Verdict
England are backed to cover the -35.5 handicap.
