This rugby union fixture dates back to the first match played between the two in 1909. Australia won that first match 3-9 in Blackheath, England. England won the second Test between the two sides in 1927/28, but they only played two more times before 1963, with both teams claiming two wins.
Australia won the first three series between the sides 2-0 (1975, 1988 & 2006), the 2010 series was drawn 1-1, and England have won the most recent series 3-0 (2016) and 2-1 (2022). Australia’s best winning streak was four wins in a row (1984 to 1988), while England have bettered that winning run twice, winning five in a row from 2000 to 2003, and eight on the bounce from 2016 to 2021.

Rugby World Cup Record

England have won four of those seven matches, with Australia winning three matches. They have met three times in the quarter-final, with England winning all three matches.
