Wales had the better of the results in the early years, up until 1978 when the Aussies grew the game in the country and started producing world class sides. Between 1991 and 2003, Australia won nine consecutive games against the Welsh before the streak was broken in 2005.
That was followed by an even longer winning streak (12 games) for the Wallabies between 2009 and 2017. Since 2018 Wales have however won four of their five games against Australia.
Australia vs Wales Head-to-Head Record
This is another very interesting Rugby Union fixture which Australia has had the better of, thanks mainly to the two long winning streaks mentioned above.
Wales have only managed one victory in Australia which will be a concern for them while Australia have been victorious in 18 of their 29 games in Wales. Wales have a slightly better record at neutral venues.

Rugby World Cup Record
This has become one of the most played Rugby Union World Cup fixtures in the history of the tournament. They always, one way or another, seem to end up playing each other.
In the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987, Wales beat Australia 22-21 before Australia defeated Wales 38-3 at the 1991 tournament. In the 1999 World Cup, Australia beat Wales 24-9 on Welsh soil.
During the 2007 Rugby World Cup, Australia had the better of Wales again despite the game being played in Wales. In New Zealand during the 2015 World Cup, the Wallabies won a very close match, 21-18.
They faced off against during the 2015 World Cup group stage, a match Australia won 15-6 at Twickenham. They were to meet again in both the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cup with Wales winning on both occasions.
2024 Australia vs Wales Fixtures
