The 2023 Rugby Championship will get underway on 8 July 2023 when South Africa host Australia. Later that evening Argentina welcome the All Blacks.

The tournament is shortened this season due to the World Cup later this year, giving teams an opportunity for more preparation time. Each team will play the other only once over three rounds.

2023 Rugby Championship Fixtures

During World Cup years the Rugby Championship is often used as more of a preparation although teams are still keen on claiming the title. Only once in history has the winner of the Rugby Championship gone on to win the World Cup that same year – South Africa in 2019.

The All Blacks have won the Rugby Championship in eight of the last 10 seasons.
