Last season this was one of the tightest contested fixtures. They met twice with Ulster winning 15-14 at Munster and Munster winning 15-14 at Ulster. The exact same scoreline across both games with the away side winning on both occasions.

Ulster Form

Ulster are eighth on the URC table with two victories from their three games.

While Ulster have been without their Ireland internationals, they are still a strong outfit. They beat Zebre 40-26 away in the opening round before seeing off the Bulls 26-19 at home the next week.

Last week Ulster came unstuck in the Irish derby against Connacht. Connacht won 22-20 at home in a very tightly contested fixture.

It is not clear yet who will be back with Ulster this week but most of the Irish internationals will probably remain out for another week or two. At least those who played a significant part at the World Cup.

Munster Form

Munster are the defending URC champions and are already up in second place this season. They are unbeaten with two wins and a draw.

In round one Munster saw off the Sharks 34-21 at home before a 13-all draw against Benetton in Italy. Last week Munster cruised to a 45-14 victory at home against the Dragons.

Much like their Irish opponents, Munster are still without some international players. South African RG Snyman is back but injured from the World Cup final.
