The Cape side finished third on the table in the group stage with twelve wins and two draws. Two home wins in the knockouts have seen them qualify as surprise hosts for this final.
Recent form has resulted in a 26-24 home loss to Munster and a 38-22 home win over Benetton. A 33-21 quarter-final win over the Bulls then followed.
A 43-25 home win over Connacht was the last result. The Stormers were clinical on attack and countered superbly as Connacht dominated the match with possession. The Stormers’ defence was on song as they sucker-punched Connacht throughout the match with well worked tries.
The Stormers will announce their team soon but we expect captain Deon Fourie and lock Marvin Orrie to return to the side to bolster their first team.
Munster Form and News
The Irish side qualified for the knockout phase in fifth place with ten wins and one draw. Two away wins in the knockout rounds have seen them qualify for this final.
Recent results have included a 26-24 away win at the Stormers and a 22-22 away draw at the Sharks. They then beat Glasgow 14-5 in Glasgow in the quarter-finals.
Munster put in a superb performance in their last match as they beat Leinster 16-15 away. A monstrous display by Munster somehow kept a rampant Leinster at bay. A drop goal 2 minutes from time handed Munster one of the best victories in their recent history.
We await team news but expect the same squad to be available as no new injury news is available as yet.
