Stormers vs Glasgow Warriors Preview

The Stormers got back to winning ways last week against Munster at home. They are a different beast in Cape Town and against a Glasgow side that lost to the Bulls last week, I fancy the hosts to win this one.

  • Stomers have won 3 successive home fixtures.

  • Glasgow have won 3 of their last 5 away matches.

Head to Head

Glasgow have won three of their four matches against the Stormers.

Stormers Form

The Stormers produced an excellent second-half performance against Munster at home last weekend, winning 34-19.

The Stormers began the second half leading 14-12 after scoring two converted tries in the first half and extended their advantage with their third converted try in the 47th minute of the match.

Munster reduced the deficit with a converted try after 68 minutes of play before the Stormes scored 13 unanswered points in the remainder of the game to seal the victory.

The Stormers are 12th on the URC log with 10 points from four fixtures.
The Stormers have won their last three home matches and got the better of the Glasgow Warriors in Cape Town in 2022, but it will not be easy going against the URC defending champions this Saturday.

Stormers Team News & Injuries

Springboks Manie Libbok and Frans Malherbe are available for selection after missing last weekend's match.

Damian Willemse kicked over one penalty, four conversions, and a drop goal against Munster last weekend.

Centre Ruhan Nel scored two second-half tries in the match.

Sulieman Hartzenberg and Marcel Theunissen dotted down once each in the first half.

Glasgow Warriors Form

The Glasgow Warriors fell to their second away defeat of the URC season, losing 28-24 against the Sharks in Durban.

The Warriors scored two tries and one conversion in the first half to trail 15-12 against the Sharks at the break.

Glasgow conceded two penalties and a converted try in the second half but rallied late against the Sharks, dotting down two tries and a conversion at the end of the match.

Glasgow are 3rd in the league standings with 18 points from five matches.

The Glasgow Warriors have played the Stormers once away from home, losing by 25 points in 2022; however, they showed against the Sharks last weekend that they will play for 80 minutes.

Glasgow Warriors Team News & Injuries

George Horne scored two tries and one conversion against the Sharks.

Rory Darge and Johnny Matthews got over the try line late in the second half.

Verdict

The Stormers will use their home ground to their advantage for their clash against the Glasgow Warriors and are tipped to cover the -7.5 handicap.
