Saracens vs Bristol Predictions
The proverbial David and Goliath comparison is suitable for this clash as Bristol Bears travel to Saracens. Saracens will be expecting to cruise past this one and Bristol will be hoping to make it as competitive as they can as the odds are not looking to good for the Bears.
- Saracens have 11 of their 12 matches in the Premiership
- Saracens have won 6 of their 6 home matches in the Premiership
- Saracens have covered the -13.5 handicap in 2 of the last 3 head-to-head matches
- Saracens have covered the -13.5 handicap in their last 2 home matches in all competitions
- Bristol have lost 7 of their 11 matches in the Premiership
- Bristol have lost 5 of their 6 away matches in the Premiership
Head-to-Head
Saracens hold a sizeable 25-8 advantage over the Bears with 1 draw in 34 meetings.
The previous match was won 25-10 by Saracens at Bristol.
Saracens Form and News
Saracens have been nigh perfect this season with one defeat and eleven wins in their twelve matches this season and unsurprisingly sit atop the throne of the table.
Recent form includes a 35-3 win at home against Exeter and a 19-16 win at Gloucester. They would then host Lyon in the Champions Cup and win by 48-28.
Their last match was a 20-14 loss at Edinburgh in the Champions Cup. Sarries were off the boil and sustained three yellow cards in the match which killed any momentum they were building. Edinburgh played superbly defensively and kept Saracens at bay in a surprising upset.
Official team news is yet to be announced but we could see a change or two after a couple of players limped off their field last week. Owen Farrell is still serving his ban and misses the match.
Bristol Form and News
Bristol are rooted to the bottom of the table after only winning three of their eleven matches this season domestically. Their domestic form is in stark contrast to their continental form.
A 15-12 away win at Harlequins was preceded by a 23-7 away loss at London Irish. A 34-11 Challenge Cup win at Zebre would follow subsequently.
The most recent match was a 33-19 home win against Perpignan. Bristol played superbly in front of their home fans and blew the French side away in the first half with five tries. They tapered off and took the foot off the gas in the second half and didn’t score another point after half time.
Team news is not available but we expect to see the same squad available except for scrum-half Tom Whitely who has joined Leicester this week.
Verdict
Saracens should have no problem in this one and should coast to victory and cover the handicap in the process.
