Ospreys vs Edinburgh Preview

The Ospreys have a fine record against the Scots which could be the determining factor on Saturday. I am backing the hosts despite their poor recent form.

  • Ospreys have lost 4 of their last 5 fixtures.
  • Ospreys have won 4 of their last 5 home games.
  • Ospreys have won 10 successive home matches against Edinburgh.
  • Edinburgh have lost 4 of their last 5 away fixtures.

Head to Head

The Ospreys have a slight edge with 13 victories to 11 against Edinburgh in 24 meetings.

Ospreys Form

The Ospreys succumbed to their third successive defeat in the URC, losing 36-12 against Ulster away from home last weekend.

Ospreys struggled during the first 40 minutes of play against Ulster, conceding two tries, a converted try, and a penalty try to trail 24-7 at half-time.

Ospreys scored a second try in the second half but conceded two tries and a conversion to lose by 24 points at the end of the game.

The Ospreys have contested two fixtures at home this season, winning 37-24 against the Stormers before losing 19-29 against the Bulls.

The Ospreys are at the bottom of the URC log, with six points from five games.

The Ospreys have not been in the best form lately, but they have an outstanding winning record against Edinburgh at their stadium, giving them the belief to secure the victory in front of their fans this weekend.

Ospreys Team News & Injuries

Sam Parry and Keelan Giles scored a try each against Ulster last weekend.

Dan Edwards kicked over the sole conversion of the match.

Edinburgh Form

Edinburgh recorded their second consecutive home win in the URC after defeating Cardiff 27-8 last weekend.

The first half was a low-scoring affair, with Edinburgh kicking over a solitary penalty and Cardiff scoring a try.

However, Edinburgh would take control of the second half, running in four tries and two conversions against Cardiff to secure the points.

Edinburgh lost their two away fixtures this season, going down 22-16 against the Bulls and 55-21 against the Lions.

Edinburgh are 6th in the table with 13 points from five matches.

Edinburgh have played well lately, but their away form has not been the best this season, and they have a dismal record playing against the Ospreys on their home patch.

Edinburgh Team News & Injuries

Duhan Van der Merwe, Pierre Schoeman, Darcy Graham, and Ewan Ashman scored a try each in the second half against Cardiff.

Ros Thompon slotted over a penalty and two conversions during the game.

Verdict

Despite Ospreys' poor start to their season, they have a superb record against Edinburgh at home and are tipped to cover the +6.5 handicap.
