Lions vs Sharks Preview
This should be a tight contest after the Lions won this clash a couple of months ago by two points. The hosts are slight favourites with a three-point handicap but have lost their last four games.

I am backing the Sharks to get within three points and perhaps upset the odds with a win.
- Lions have lost their last 4 matches.
- Lions beat the Sharks by 2 points earlier this season.
- Sharks have lost 9 of their last 10 URC matches.
- Sharks have won 2 of their last 3 matches in all competitions.
Head to Head
These two met on 6 January this year, a match the Lions won 20-18 away from home.
Lions Form
The Lions are having a decent season and are still in the running for a quarter-final berth. They are currently in 11th place with four wins and six defeats from their 10 games.
Unfortunately, after a decent run in all competitions, the Lions come into this fixture having lost their last four games. They suffered a 13-3 away defeat to Montpellier in the Challenge Cup before going down 38-28 at home to Ospreys in the same competition.
Their last two games were both against the Bulls. The Lions lost 30-28 away and 25-10 at home in mid-February.
Lions Injuries & Team News
The Lions need to get the win to remain in the hunt for the playoffs. Defeat won’t put them out of contention, but it will make it that much tougher.
Sharks Form
The Sharks have endured a shocking season thus far and time is fast running out for them to improve. The Durban-based outfit is currently last in the URC on 10 points with just one win and nine defeats.
The squad the Sharks possess means they should be fighting it out near the top of the table, but as per last season, talent on the park is not meaning success.
The Sharks are 19 points off the playoffs with more than half the season gone. Even a great run of form will not get them into the playoffs. Their focus will be on the Challenge Cup and improving for next season.
Sharks Injuries & Team News
While their hopes of success in the URC is all but gone, the Sharks will still want to climb the table and at least finish with some respect. There is no reason for them to not go full strength this weekend.
Verdict
Sharks are backed to get within three points and perhaps take all the points.
