Head to Head
Edinburgh upset the odds in their only previous clash with the Sharks, winning 21-5 in Durban last season. It was a miserable game played in very wet conditions.

Edinburgh currently sit eighth on the URC table after five wins and seven defeats in their 12 matches. They are on 30 points, there points off the playoff places.
After back-to-back defeats against Glasgow home and away over Christmas last year, the Scots have bounced back to win their next three. Early Jan saw Edinburgh defeat Zebre 24-17 at home but it was a wholly unimpressive performance against the bottom side in the league.
That was followed by a 34-21 win over Castres in the Champions Cup. Last week Edinburgh produced a fine performance to beat Saracens in the Champions Cup as well. That victory secured their place in the next round.

Edinburgh are missing a few individuals with the Six Nations starting in a couple of weeks. The are however generally tough to beat at home.
Sharks Form
The Sharks have started climbing the URC table after a rough start to the season. Currently they are ninth with six wins and four defeats but have only played 10 games. Most of the teams above them have played 11 or 12.
After a 35-0 home defeat to Cardiff in late November, the Sharks sacked their coach. Since then there has been an upturn in results, winning five of their next seven.
The Sharks beat the Lions and Bulls at home in derbies at the end of December. That was followed by a 24-12 defeat at Connacht but the visitors played a weakened side.
The Durban-based outfit then beat Bordeaux 32-3 in the Champions Cup before going down 39-29 at Harlequins this past weekend.

Neil Powel will be keen to get a full strength side on the field this weekend. Victory will put the Sharks in a strong position to contest for the playoffs as we start reaching the closing run-in.
