Northampton are massive favourites against a Falcons side on one win in 15 games this season. I expect the Saints to cruise at home and cover the -18 handicap.

Northampton will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership table over Harlequins. Currently the Saints have won eight of their 11 games and are on 39 points.

The Saints are on a nine-match winning run and look very likely to make it 10 this Saturday. Northampton closed out the Premiership with a four-point win over Sale Sharks before beating Exeter 42-36 away before their return to Europe.

In the Champions Cup, Northampton were just as good. They destroyed Bayonne 61-14 at home and last week put in an impressive performance to defeat Munster 26-23 away.

Despite the loss of a few players to international duty, the Saints should have far too much quality for the Falcons.

Newcastle Form

Newcastle have lost all 11 Premiership matches to date and also suffered defeat in three of their four Challenge Cup games.

With half the season gone, the Falcons look certain to finish bottom as they are 13 points off the team above them. Their only win this season came in a 32-23 away success last weekend against Perpignan.

Prior to that, Newcastle were defeated 57-18 at home to Benetton. They also lost their last Premiership game 24-3 to Harlequins.

Newcastle do not have international players in the England squad so they should be at full strength. They may see this as an opportunity to put in a big performance.
