Wellington were not at full strength this weekend but may not be again this time around. They face Canterbury on Sunday and will want to keep players fresh for a repeat of last season’s final.

Tasman have also made a good start to the NPC season, winning two of their three matches.
A 27-15 opening-round win at home to Otago was followed by a strong performance to beat Auckland 24-12 at home. Tasman were thoroughly outplayed at the weekend at Northland, losing 32-5.
