Leinster will go into Saturday’s final against Toulouse at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium as slight favourites. However, the Irish giants won’t be too confident after losing the last two European Champions Cup finals.

Those two defeats both came against La Rochelle, but this season Toulouse have stepped up their level once again. The French club have been in sublime form both in Europe and in the Top 14 back home.

Odds

The handicap for the final is set at two points with Leinster paying 1.90 to cover and Toulouse at even money. To win outright, Toulouse offers some good value at 2.20 while Leinster are priced at 1.80.

Leinster Form

Coming into the final week Leinster have not been in particularly great form from a results perspective, but there is plenty of context to some poor performances. Of their last five matches in all competitions, Leinster have lost three.

However, on their trip to South Africa in late April, Leinster sent a second-string squad as to not risk injuries ahead of their Champions Cup semi-final against Northampton. They lost both fixtures but managed a three-point win over Northampton.

Leinster then thrashed the Ospreys at home before losing last weekend 23-21 at Ulster. Again, Leinster were certainly not at full strength for that game.

Leinster have also won the tournament multiple times and will be seeking their fifth title. it is also worth remembering that since Leinster won the tournament last in 2017/18, they have lost three finals, including the last two seasons - both defeats came to La Rochelle.

Toulouse Form

With two rounds to play in the Top 14, Toulouse are currently three points clear at the top. Over their last eight matches in all competitions, Toulouse have won seven with their solitary defeat coming away to Toulon by a point.

Since that defeat, the French club have won fur on the bounce, including their semi-final win over Harlequins at the start of May. Last week, Toulouse were impressive, winning 29-22 at Montpellier.

Toulon will be seeking their sixth Champions Cup title. They last won the tournament in the 2020/21 season.
