The 2024 World Rugby Awards Nominees have been announced with mostly names that were expected, however, there are one or two surprises in there.
- Men's 15s Player of the Year
- Women's 15s Player of the Year
- Men's Sevens Player of the Year
- Women's Sevens Player of the Year
- Men's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year
- Women's 15s Breakthrough Player of the Year
- International Rugby Players Men's 15s Try of the Year
- International Rugby Players Women's 15s Try of the Year
After a superb year for South Africa, they have received three nominations in the Men's 15s Player of the year category. Lock, Eben Etzebeth, winger Cheslin Kolbe as well as flanker, Pieter-Steph du Toit are in with a chance at claiming the award for the first time.
The only other name in the hat is Ireland's Caelan Doris. It is hard to argue that it is a tight race between the three South Africans for the coveted award.
