An elite field of the world's best women's golfers returns to the Lancaster Country Club for the first time since 2015 to compete for the title at the U.S. Women's Open. Who will lift the trophy come Sunday?

Allisen Corpuz returns to defend her title after a three-stroke victory over Charley Hull and Jiyai Shin in 2023.

The Lancaster Country Club hosted the 2015 US Women's Open Championship, which was won by In Gee Chun.

Past and present major winners in the field for Thursday's tee-off include Nelly Korda, Allisen Corpuz, Minjee Lee, Yuka Saso, A Lim Kim, Jeongeun Lee, Ruoning Yin, In Gee Chun, Sei Young Kim, Hannah Green, Ashleigh Buhai, Anna Nordqvist, Sophia Popov, Hinako Shibuno, Celine Boutier, Brooke M. Henderson, Jennifer Kupcho, Patty Tavatanakit and Jin Young Ko.

These are our selections that could win the title this weekend.

Hannah Green

Hannah Green had an excellent beginning to her year on the LPGA Tour, finishing T54 at the Honda LPGA Thailand and winning the HSBC Women's World Championship.

Green's subsequent three starts were poor, with results of MC at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship, T21 at the Ford Championship and MC at the Chevron Championship.

However, Green has been back to her best lately, winning the JM Eagle LA Championship and placing T18 at the Cognizant Founders Cup and 2nd at the Mizuho Americas Open.

The number five ranked golfer has competed eight times at the U.S. Women's Open, finishing T34 in 2019, T40 in 2020, T62 in 202, T28 in 2022 and T13 in 2023.

Hannah Green has won twice this season and will fancy her chances to win her second Major title at the Lancaster Country Club this weekend.

Hae-ran Ryu

Hae-ran Ryu had a solid start to her 2024 on the LPGA Tour, placing T12 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, T35 at the LPGA Drive Championship, T9 at the Honda LPGA Thailand, and T22 at the HSBC Women's World Championship before finishing T58 at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship and missing the cut at the Ford Championship.

Ryu did not take long to return to form, placing T9 at the T-Mobile Match Play, 5th at the Chevron Championship, and 3rd at the JM Eagle LA Championship before finishing T35 at the Cognizant Founders Cup and withdrawing from the Mizuho Americas Open.

Ryu has contested the U.S. Women's Open on four occasions, with results of MC in 2016, T13 in 2020, MC in 2022, and 8th in 2023.

Hae-ran Ryu has had two top-five and two top-ten places in 11 tournaments this year and will be challenging for the title if she can replicate those performances.

Charley Hull

Charley Hull has been playing well on the LPGA Tour and LET Tour this year, placing T7 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, T3 at the Aramco Ladies International, T54 at the Honda LPGA Thailand, 2nd at the Aramco Team Series and T10 at the Fir Hills Seri Pak Championship before withdrawing from the Ford Championship.

Hull has maintained her level of play, finishing T23 at the Chevron Championship, T13 at the JM Eagle LA Championship, 2nd at the Aramco Team Series, and T34 at the Mizuho Americas Open in her following five events.

The number eight ranked golfer made nine appearances at the U.S. Women's Open, placing T45 in 2015, MC in 2016, T21 in 2017, T10 in 2018, T16 in 2019, T30 in 2020, MC in 2021, T20 in 2022 and T2 in 2023.

Charley Hull has been thereabouts for most of her season and has the form to come out on top this weekend.

Maja Stark

Maja Stark had an average beginning to her year on the LPGA Tour, finishing T22 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, T57 LPGA Drive on Championship, T31 at the Honda LPGA Thailand, T60 HSBC Women's World Championship.

Stark regained her touch after those results, placing T3 at the Ford Championship, T40 at the T-Mobile Match Play, 2nd at the Chevron Championship, and 2nd at the JM Eagle LA Championship before missing the cut at the Cognizant Founders Cup.

The world's 16th-ranked player has featured four times at the US Women's Open, finishing T13 in 2020, T16 in 2021, MC in 2022 and T9 in 2023.

Maja Stark has been knocking hard lately and is the long-shot value bet in Pennsylvania this weekend.

Verdict

Hannah Green has been in top form on the LPGA Tour and will look to lift her third trophy in 2024 come Sunday.

Hae-ran Ryu is showing signs she is ready to crack her first Major title in Pennsylvania.

Charley Hull came close to winning the U.S. Women's Open last year and will look to go one better this weekend.

Maja Stark has been in contention to win multiple times lately and could cause an upset victory at the Lancaster Country Club.
