After a three-week hiatus, the DP World Tour and its players are back on the European continent to compete in the Soudal Open in Belgium. Who will walk away with the honours come Sunday?

Simon Forsstrom returns to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Jens Dantorp in 2023.

Guido Migliozzi and Adrian Otaegui, former champions of the Belgian Knockout held at the Rinkven International GC, are in the field.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Yannik Paul

Yannik Paul got off to an excellent start to his season on the DP World Tour, placing T8 at the Dubai Invitational, MC at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, and T4 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship before his form dipped, finishing T35 at the Bahrain Championship, T65 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and MC at the Porsche Singapore Classic.

However, Paul bounced back to form in his subsequent three tournaments, placing 10th at the Hero Indian Open, T36 at the ISPS Hada Championship in Japan, and T11 at the Volvo China Open.

The Geman golfer placed an excellent T2 overall at the 2022 Soudal Open on debut.

Paul came close to winning at the Rinkven International GC in his previous visit and will look to go one better come Sunday.

Thomas Pieters

Thomas Pieters had a quiet start to his season on the LIV Golf Tour, finishing T43 in Mayakoba, T30 in Las Vegas, T37 in Jeddah, T48 in Hong Kong before rediscovering his touch, placing T9 in Miami, T14 in Adelaide and T5 in Singapore.

The 32-year-old Belgian has made three appearances at this event, finishing T24 in 2018, T76 in 2019, and T9 in 2022.

Pieters returns to the DP World Tour for the first time since the beginning of 2023 and has the form to win the Soudal Open this weekend.

Sam Bairstow

Sam Bairstow has been in solid form on the DP World Tour since March, placing T15 at the Jonsson Workwear Open, 3rd at the Porsche Singapore Classic, T13 at the Hero Indian Open, and T36 at the ISPS Handa Championship in Japan and T23 at the Volvo China Open.

Other notable results achieved by Baistow this season include finishing T23 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T23 at the Bahrain Championship and T13 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

The 25-year-old Englishman will debut at the 2024 Soudal Open this weekend.

Bairstow has been thereabouts in recent months and could make the frame in Belgium.

Johannes Veerman

Johannes Veerman produced consistent results on the DP World Tour during his first eight tournaments of the season, finishing T16 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T54 at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, T29 at the Bahrain Championship, T16 at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, T46 at the Jonsson Workwear Open and T37 at the Porsche Singapore Classic.

After those performances, Veerman has found form on the golf course, placing T2 at the Hero Indian Open and T8 at the Volvo China Open.

The 31-year-old American will debut at the Soudal Open this weekend.

Veerman has been playing well lately and offers excellent value in Antwerp this weekend.

Verdict

Paul has been showing signs he is ready to secure another DP World Tour title.

Pieters can take advantage of playing on home soil to emerge as the winner of the Soudal Open this weekend.

Bairstow can convert his recent results into a winning performance at the Rinkven International GC.

Veerman has been thereabouts in his last two starts and could cause an upset victory in Belgium.
