Peter Uihlein produced fair results on the LIV Golf Tour last season, with his best results being a T2 in Las Vegas, a T18 in Miami, a T14 in the United Kingdom, a T20 in Greenbrier and a T15 in Chicago.
However, Uihlein was in fine form on the Asian Tour in 2024, winning the International Series in England and Qatar and placing 6th at the International Series in Oman and T2 at the International Series in Thailand. Additionally, he finished T19 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship on the DP World Tour.
The 35-year-old American contested the Saudi Open (Asian Tour) at the 2024 Riyadh Golf Club, placing T3.
Uihlein could cause an upset victory, as he has the experience of playing at the Riyadh Golf Club and registered two wins last season.
Format
An invitational field of 54 golfers will feature at the tournament, with a total purse of $25 million up for grabs. $4 million will go to the winner, while the player coming in last will pocket $50,000.
The players will contest 54 holes instead of 72 for all the LIV Golf Invitational Series events.
A shotgun start will occur, where the players will tee off simultaneously from different holes.
A 13-four-man team (four players each and two wild-card players) format will run concurrent, with the top three teams earning prize money.
Verdict
Hatton has done nothing wrong lately and can win the season's opening LIV Golf Tour tournament.
Niemann has been in excellent form lately and can add another trophy to his cabinet this weekend.
Smith has been knocking hard lately and should enter calculations in Saudi Arabia.
Uihlein has been performing well lately and could cause an upset victory at the Riyadh Golf Club.
