Dustin Johnson is tipped for victory (Getty Images)
LIV Golf remains in the United States, with the players descending on the greens at Orange County National to contest for the title in Orlando. Who will walk away with the honours come Sunday?
The players will tee off on the Crooked Cat Course at Orange Country National.
Past and present major winners in the lineup include Henrik Stenson, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Graeme McDowell, Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Bubba Watson,Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Martin Kaymer.
These are our top picks that could win the title this weekend.
Dustin Johnson
Dustin Johnson has had a relatively quiet start to the new season on the LIV Golf season, finishing 37th in Mayakoba before posting a solid 13th at the recent event in Tucson, Arizona.
The 38-year-old American was the premier golfer on the breakaway tour last year, accumulating the most points by placing 8th in London, T3 in Portland, T2 in Bedminster, victory in Boston, T2 in Chicago, T15 in Bangkok and 5th in Jeddah.
Johnson is the defending individual champion of the LIV Golf Invitational Series and has the game to secure his second career title on the latest golfing tour.
Mito Pereira
Mito Pereira had a solid start to his season, placing T4 at the Shriners Children's Open, T45 at the ZOZO Championship and T18 at the CJ Cup on the PGA Tour before contesting two events on the Asian Tour, finishing T6 at the Saudi International and T11 at the International Series in Oman.
The 27-year-old Chliean then switched to the LIV Golf Invitational Series, finishing 16th on debut at Mayakoba and followed that up with a solid 6th at the event in Tucson.
Pereira was in contention in the previous event, and a repeat performance can see him challenging for the title in Orlando.
Brendan Steele
Brendan Steele has had an excellent beginning to his foray on the LIV Golf Tour, placing 5th on debut at Mayakoba and 3rd in Tucson after losing in a playoff with Danny Lee and Louis Oosthuizen.
Before that, the 39-year-old American had been in decent form on the PGA Tour, finishing T40 at the ZOZO Championship, T18 at the CJ Cup, W/D at the Cadence Bank Houston Open, T48 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, T32 at the American Express, T20 at the Farmers Insurance Open before missing the cut at the WM Phoenix Open.
Steele has gone close on both occasions in his first two events on the LIV Golf Tour and will fancy his chances to get over the finishing line in Orlando.
Peter Uihlein
Peter Uihlein has been ultra-consistent on the LIV Golf circuit and offers excellent value in Florida.
Uihlein featured in two Asian Tour tournaments at the start of this year, finishing T18 at the Saudi International and missing the cut at the International Series Oman before returning to the LIV Golf Tour, placing 2nd at Mayakoba and 10th at Tucson.
Before that, the 33-year-old placed T3 in London, T40 in Portland, T23 in Bedminster, T44 in Boston, T2 in Chicago, T20 in Bangkok and 2nd in Jeddah last year.
Additional results from 2022 include T7 at the International Series in Singapore (Asian Tour), MC at the International Series in Korea (Asian Tour), and T10 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (DP World Tour).
Uihlein has placed second twice and third once in nine LIV Golf tournaments and can upstage the others with victory at Orange County National.
Format
An invitational field of 48 golfers will feature at the tournament, with a total purse of $25 million up for grabs. $4 million will go to the winner, while the player coming in last will pocket $120,000.
The players will contest 54 holes instead of the traditional 72 for all the LIV Golf Invitational Series events.
A shotgun start will occur, where the players will tee off simultaneously from different holes.
A 12-four-man team format will run concurrent, with the top three teams earning prize money.
Verdict
Pereira has been thereabouts and can lift the trophy if he keeps replicating his recent displays.
Steele has been impressive in his first two starts on the LIV Golf Tour and can take home the winner's cheque.
Uihlein has been holding form consistently and can go all the way in Orlando.
